What's The Deal With GIC Cheer 2027

Welcome to GIC Cheer

GIC Cheer is more than a performance opportunity — it is an experience designed to bring talented cheer athletes together, challenge them, celebrate their abilities, and give them the opportunity to be part of something special.

Our goal is to create an exciting, organized, and memorable cheer experience for athletes from across the country as they prepare to participate in GIC All-Star Weekend.

GIC Cheer gives athletes the opportunity to meet and work alongside other cheerleaders from their region, learn from experienced coaches and choreographers, build confidence, develop new skills, and perform as part of a larger all-star experience.

Most importantly, GIC Cheer is designed to meet athletes where they are.

Athletes do not need to be at the same skill level, come from the same gym, or have the same cheer background to participate. Our process is structured so that our staff can learn about each athlete before camp and create a routine experience that is appropriate, challenging, and exciting for the group participating.

The Athlete Journey

The GIC Cheer journey begins with a Regional Assessment.

Athletes will attend an assessment in their assigned region where our staff will have the opportunity to see their current cheer skills in person. The assessment may include areas such as:

  • Tumbling
  • Stunting
  • Jumps
  • Motions
  • Dance and performance
  • Flexibility
  • Overall cheer technique and confidence

It is important for families to understand that this is not a traditional tryout and athletes are not being assessed for cuts.

Every athlete who attends a GIC Regional Assessment will be invited to participate in GIC Cheer Camp.

The purpose of the assessment is preparation.

By evaluating athletes ahead of time, our coaching and choreography staff can begin determining appropriate stunt groups, athlete placements, routine difficulty, formations, transitions, choreography, and the overall cadence of camp.

Instead of arriving at camp and spending valuable time trying to determine what every athlete can do, our staff can arrive with a plan already in motion.

What Happens After Assessments?

Once regional assessments are complete, the GIC Cheer staff will use the information collected to begin preparing for camp.

Our team will review the athletes participating from each region and begin developing a routine that showcases the strengths of the group.

That may include planning:

  • Stunt groups and positions
  • Tumbling sections
  • Jump sequences
  • Dance and performance moments
  • Formations
  • Transitions
  • Athlete features
  • Routine pacing and difficulty

The goal is not to force athletes into a routine that does not fit them. The goal is to build the routine around the athletes we actually have participating.

This creates a more productive camp environment and gives athletes a better opportunity to feel successful, confident, and prepared.

What Happens When Athletes Arrive at GIC Cheer Camp?

Once athletes arrive on location for GIC Cheer Camp, the experience becomes much more than an assessment.

Camp is where everything begins to come together.

Athletes will meet their teammates, work with the GIC coaching staff, begin learning choreography, practice stunt groups, clean skills, work on timing and transitions, and build the chemistry needed to perform together successfully.

Because the assessment process has already given our staff an understanding of the athletes attending, camp can move at a much more efficient pace.

Athletes can expect an environment that is energetic, structured, encouraging, and focused on teamwork.

They will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn and perform choreography
  • Work with athletes from different gyms and communities
  • Strengthen stunt and performance skills
  • Build confidence
  • Learn how to quickly adapt within a new team
  • Develop teamwork and communication
  • Experience the excitement of preparing for a large event

For many athletes, one of the most rewarding parts of the GIC experience is learning how quickly a group of athletes who may have never cheered together before can become a team.

What Happens During GIC All-Star Weekend?

GIC All-Star Weekend is the culmination of the journey.

Athletes will arrive on location having already completed their regional assessment and camp preparation. Once together, they will continue rehearsing, polishing their routine, making final adjustments, and preparing for their performance.

The weekend is designed to feel like a true event experience.

Athletes will have the opportunity to participate in the excitement surrounding GIC All-Star Weekend while representing their region as part of GIC Cheer.

They will be surrounded by other athletes, families, coaches, and participants who are all coming together for the same purpose — to celebrate athletics, competition, teamwork, and community.

When it is time to perform, the goal is for every athlete to step onto the floor feeling prepared, supported, and proud of what they have accomplished.

Why Should My Cheer Athlete Participate?

GIC Cheer offers athletes something different from their traditional cheer season.

They are able to step outside of their normal team environment and challenge themselves in a new setting while still using the skills they already love.

Athletes have the opportunity to meet new teammates, work with new coaches, adapt to different choreography, and experience what it feels like to become part of a team in a relatively short amount of time.

It can also be a valuable confidence-building experience.

Whether your athlete is an experienced all-star cheerleader or continuing to grow in the sport, GIC Cheer gives them an opportunity to showcase their strengths, develop as a performer, build new relationships, and create memories beyond their regular cheer season.

Our hope is that athletes leave GIC not only proud of the routine they performed, but also proud of the way they challenged themselves, connected with new teammates, and contributed to something bigger than themselves.

One Journey. One Team. One Unforgettable Experience.

From the first regional assessment to the final performance at GIC All-Star Weekend 2027, every step of the GIC Cheer journey is designed with one goal in mind:

to create an exciting, organized, supportive, and memorable experience for every athlete who chooses to participate.

No cuts. No expectation of perfection. Just athletes coming together, showing us what they can do, and preparing to create something incredible.
