Position Title:
GIC Cheer – Camp Coach / Instructor
Position Overview
GIC Cheer Camp Coaches/Instructors are responsible for delivering a high-energy, high-quality instructional experience during the GIC Cheer Camp & Showcase in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This role requires minimal pre-event responsibilities and a strong on-site instructional presence, supporting athletes across all skill areas while reinforcing GIC Cheer’s athlete-first values.
Camp Coaches/Instructors will work closely with GIC Cheer leadership and their designated Point of Contact (POC) to ensure preparedness prior to arrival and seamless execution during the event.
Pre-Event Responsibilities (Minimal)
- Maintain consistent communication with assigned GIC Cheer Point of Contact (POC)
- Develop and prepare a cheer routine with music prior to arrival in Myrtle Beach
- Review event expectations, schedules, and athlete safety standards
- Be prepared to teach across age groups and ability levels
On-Site Responsibilities (Myrtle Beach)
Instruction & Athlete Development
Assist with the facilitation of cheer camp instruction, including:
- Fundamentals
- Drills
- Cheers
- Dance
- Jumps
- Tumbling
- Stunts
Teach and clean routines in breakout groups organized by:
- Region
- Age group
- Serve as coach for routine performances during the Sunday Cheer Showcase
Event Support & Operations
- Assist with event setup, breakdown, and general readiness
- Support athlete oversight, safety, and engagement throughout camp
- Assist leadership with logistics, flow, and problem-solving as needed
- Support special programming, including Dad Game performance logistics
Collaboration & Leadership
Work collaboratively with:
- GIC Cheer leadership
- Regional Coordinator
- Fellow instructors
Uphold GIC Cheer’s standards of professionalism, positivity, and athlete-first care
Serve as a role model and mentor for athletes
Event Schedule Expectations
Wednesday – April 8
- Arrive in Myrtle Beach
- Assist with event setup and preparation
Thursday – April 9
- Assist with athlete check-in
- Support setup and décor
- Finalize readiness for camp launch
Friday – April 10

Cheer Camp (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Assist with:
- Camp facilitation
- Instruction
- Athlete oversight
- End-of-day cleanup
Assist leadership with Dad Game performance logistics
Saturday – April 11
- Cheer Camp Continued (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
- Assist with facilitation of athlete bonding activity (1:00 PM – 2:00 PM)

Breakout Sessions (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
- Teach and clean routines by region and age group
- Prepare athletes for Sunday Showcase
Sunday – April 12
- On-site all day
- Assist with Cheer Showcases
- Serve as coach for routine performances
Qualifications
- High-level cheer experience required (all-star, school, collegiate, or equivalent)
- Strong instructional and communication skills
- Ability to teach across multiple skill areas and age groups
- Positive, energetic, and professional demeanor
- Willingness to assist with both instructional and operational needs
